Now refurbished, the old crane hook has been wall mounted in the factory as a piece of Guy-Raymond history.

As part of ongoing improvement projects around the site, the Auto-Forging Department crane was identified as equipment that would benefit from renewal. The original Felco 2t crane was fitted in the late 60s when the site was developed and has been moving 1ton bundles of steel onto the storage racks for in excess of 50 years – so it was definitely time for an upgrade!

Our 16 turning machines here at Guy-Raymond process approximately 400 tonnes of steel bar every year, producing castor axles and fixings as well as adjuster stems, and also enabling us to manufacture customised parts to customer specifications.

The new Stahl crane was supplied and installed by Anglia Handling. Alongside the benefits of decreased maintenance and future proofing infrastructure we have gained around a foot of lift height which will greatly aid the manoeuvring of the bundles.
